Wedding Traditions: "Something Blue" | NYC Wedding Photographer

It’s the final day for the Something’s series of the Wedding traditions. Today we end with “Something Blue.”

We’ve already talked about something old, something new, and something borrowed

So what does something blue symbolize? “Something blue” represents love, devotion, purity, and faithfulness. These are all such strong words and very fitting for a wedding day. I did some further research about additional meanings of the color blue and it also represents, stability, faith, trust, loyalty, and wisdom. These are all important for marriages or relationships in general. So I thought it’s pretty cool that such a long-standing wedding tradition has such a deep meaning. Personally, I always thought that it was just a small detail and a fun way to add a pop of color to your wedding attire. Now that I know what it means, I can’t wait to see how my brides incorporate this beautiful tradition into their wedding day! Who knew it had such a beautiful meaning!

Here's a beautiful way to incorporate your "something blue" by using flowers! It adds that soft romantic touch.

Here are some ideas for your something blue:

  • Jewelry of course J (earrings, necklace, etc.)
  • A blue garter
  • Blue fingernail polish
  • Blue flowers in your hair

The possibilities are endless!

As for my “something blue”, my Godmother gave me a beautiful ankle bracelet with a blue heart.
